School of The Arts (SOTA), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), is set to host SULAM@SOTA: Training of Trainers (ToT) – Service Learning Malaysia–University for Society (SULAM) 2026 on 18 September 2026 (Friday) at Pese’ban Agung, School of The Arts, USM.
Scheduled from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon, the programme aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge, skills and confidence in implementing meaningful and impactful service-learning initiatives through the SULAM framework.
The upcoming training will feature two distinguished speakers, Dr. Noor Alyani Nor Azazi and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oh Wen Da, who will share their expertise and insights on service learning, community engagement and the effective integration of academic learning with real-world community needs.
SULAM@SOTA: Training of Trainers is designed to provide an engaging platform for participants to explore how knowledge and skills acquired through academic learning can be transformed into meaningful action and community service. The session will also encourage participants to develop approaches that create sustainable and lasting impact through service-learning activities.
As part of USM’s commitment to strengthening university-community engagement, the programme highlights the importance of empowering educators and participants to bridge classroom learning with community needs. Through this approach, service learning becomes more than an academic exercise—it becomes an opportunity to contribute, collaborate and create positive change.
