SOTA USM Scholar Shares Expertise at Politeknik Balik Pulau Talktime: English Hour



Dr. Fara Dayana Mohd Jufry, a Lecturer from the Drama and Theatre Department, School of the Arts (SOTA), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), was invited as the speaker for Talktime: English Hour organised by the English Unit, General Studies Department, Politeknik Balik Pulau on 6 February 2027, from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
The session, themed “Puppetry as a Tool for Knowledge Transfer: Storytelling, Language, and Communication,” highlighted the role of puppetry as an effective pedagogical and creative medium in enhancing language learning, storytelling techniques, and communication skills. Drawing from her academic and artistic expertise in drama and theatre, Dr. Fara Dayana shared insights on how performative arts—particularly puppetry—can be integrated into educational contexts to foster engagement, creativity, and meaningful knowledge transfer.
The programme provided participants with fresh perspectives on interdisciplinary approaches that bridge the arts and language education, aligning with contemporary teaching and learning practices. The session also encouraged active discussion and knowledge exchange among educators and students.
