SOTA USM COLLABORATES WITH M SOCIAL RESORT PENANG FOR CSR BEACH CLEANING ACTIVITY


PENANG, 14 May 2026 – The Graphic Communication Department, School of the Arts (SOTA), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) successfully organised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Beach Cleaning Activity and Marcom Knowledge Sharing Discussion in collaboration with M Social Resort Penang. The programme involved the participation of 70 students from the department.
The initiative aimed to cultivate environmental awareness while providing students with exposure to industry knowledge related to marketing communication and design practices. Throughout the programme, students actively participated in cleaning activities along the beach area as part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability and community responsibility.
In addition to the beach cleaning session, students also joined a knowledge sharing discussion on design and marketing communication conducted by industry representatives. The session provided valuable insights into branding, communication strategies, and current industry practices, bridging academic learning with professional experience.
As a recognition of the successful collaboration and partnership, SOTA USM received a Certificate of Appreciation from M Social Resort Penang. The School also extends its sincere appreciation to Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP) for providing equipment and support throughout the programme.
This meaningful collaboration reflects SOTA USM’s commitment towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 14: Life Below Water, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through environmental conservation, educational engagement, and strategic partnerships.
