LIMPAS BAYU BORNEO 2.0: Unveiling the Stories of Borneo Through Art

GEORGE TOWN, 3 September 2026 (Thursday) – If the breeze of Borneo could tell a story, perhaps it would carry with it tales of nature, people, culture, memories and lives etched into the landscapes of the island.
This question lies at the heart of the “LIMPAS BAYU BORNEO 2.0” Exhibition, currently taking place at the Tuanku Fauziah Museum & Gallery (MGTF), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
The exhibition was officially launched by Dr. Norfarizah Binti Mohd Bakhir, Deputy Dean (Research, Innovation and Industry-Community Engagement), School of the Arts (SOTA), USM, during a ceremony held at MGTF on Thursday, 3 September 2026.
But what truly lies behind the name “LIMPAS BAYU BORNEO”?
More than simply an art exhibition, LIMPAS BAYU BORNEO 2.0 invites visitors on a visual and experiential journey that connects art with the many stories of Borneo.
🌿 A journey through art.
🎨 A space to discover Borneo.
✨ An experience filled with stories waiting to be interpreted and felt.
Through the works on display, Borneo emerges not merely as a geographical location or backdrop, but as a space rich with identity, culture, nature and human experiences.
Each artwork invites visitors to pause, observe and reflect: What story is being told? What is being preserved? And if the breeze of Borneo could truly whisper to us, what would it say?
Within the context of art, such questions open the door to broader interpretations. An artwork is not simply meant to be seen; it also invites us to listen, feel and understand.
In this spirit, LIMPAS BAYU BORNEO 2.0 offers an experience that can be explored by people from all walks of life, including art enthusiasts, members of the university community and visitors seeking to discover Borneo from a different perspective.
The exhibition is open to the public until 21 November 2026 at the Tuanku Fauziah Museum & Gallery (MGTF), USM.
Take a moment to immerse yourself in the stories of Borneo through the artworks on display.
Perhaps behind every artwork lies a story.
And perhaps, within every passing breeze, there is a story of Borneo waiting to be heard.
