DR MUHAMMAD ASYRAF BIN MUHAMMAD BAKRI

Lecturer

Dr. Muhammad Asyraf Mohd Bakri, widely recognized as Asyraf Bakri, is a Malaysian academic, artist, and designer whose practice bridges art, technology, and cultural innovation. He earned his PhD in New Media Design and Technology from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2025, after completing a Master’s degree in Product and Furniture Design.

His scholarly and creative work centers on arts-based interventions for mental health and well-being, with a particular emphasis on the angklung as a medium for creative therapy, performance, and community engagement. As the founder of the Angklung Healing Art Project, he advances interdisciplinary approaches that connect traditional musical heritage with contemporary design research. His material explorations in bamboo further reflect his commitment to sustainable design practices rooted in cultural context.

He currently serves as a Lecturer in Product Design at Universiti Sains Malaysia and holds the position of Editor for the NuMAS Journal.
